0.5% of the world’s population owns bitcoin

8:55 pm, January 14, 2023

As of January 13, Coinmarketcap counted about 43 540 000 unique users of the bitcoin cryptocurrency. The Worldometer project confirms this figure: 0.54% of the world’s 8.01 billion people have bitcoin. That is, one out of 184 people.

This can be seen as an improvement compared to Finbold’s August 2022 report. Back then, the publication calculated: 1 out of 226 people in the world owns a share of Cryptocurrency.

In recent years, the growth of bitcoin has been driven by developing countries. There, cryptocurrencies are used as a hedge against inflation and an alternative to depreciated local currencies. In 2022, bitcoin fell to a local low, which helped attract investors.

According to another Finbold report, in 2022, $ 8 trillion worth of transactions were conducted on the Bitcoin network. This indicates the active adoption of the technology.

Overall, the data shows that we are still in the early stages of crypto adoption.
