34% of gamers supported the integration of cryptocurrencies into virtual reality

11:23 am, July 15, 2022

According to a survey conducted by YouGov, 34% of gamers support the integration of cryptocurrencies into virtual reality.

Despite the negative forecasts of analysts about the future of cryptocurrencies and the fall in the value of digital assets, gamers perceive cryptocurrencies positively. Thus, out of 1000 respondents, 40% stated that they are interested in combining the concepts of play and earnings in Play2Earn games, 11% of respondents are interested in «earnings only», and 49% are interested in «play only». Interestingly, more than half of the respondents (53%) said they would agree to work in virtual reality if they were paid in cryptocurrency.

As for the future of metaverse, about 52% of gamers are convinced that virtual reality will completely change the video game industry. The most popular virtual worlds among respondents are: Meta — 73%, Fortnite — 27%, Roblox — 21%, The Sandbox — 15%, and Niantic — 10%.

However, not all members of the gaming community are positive about the integration of cryptocurrencies and NFTs into games. Recently, fans of the Tom Clancy Ghost Recon game by Ubisoft have been hitting out at Ubisoft developers and representatives for integrating NFTs into the game. According to gamers, the developers decided to «make extra money» using the blockchain.
