65% of all bitcoins in the world have not been moved for more than a year
According to Glassnode researchers, 65% of all bitcoins in the world have been inactive for more than 1 year.
Most of the mined flagship cryptocurrency has been sitting on the wallets of its owners, both during the fall in the value of digital assets and the rise. At the time of writing, the reasons for bitcoin investors' inactivity are not known for certain. Perhaps users are simply waiting for the value of CTS to rise in order to maximize their profits.
Also in early August, it became known about 13% of bitcoins that had not been moved for more than 10 years (approximately 2,445,994,628 BTC). Some analysts have suggested that these bitcoins are lost forever. For example, due to the death of the owner or the inability to regain access to the wallet.
It’s worth noting that more than one million BTC were mined by Satoshi Nakamoto, who has never appeared in public since April 2011, and there are rumors of his death. This means that a little less than half of all unused bitcoins were concentrated in the wallet of just one person — the cryptocurrency’s creator.
