Rumors: SEC representatives may have met with Satoshi Nakamoto 5 years ago

3:37 pm, September 28, 2022

A sensational tweet posted by a Fox Enterprise journalist sparked a lively discussion on Twitter.

Media personality Eleanor Terrett said that the US Securities and Exchange Commission and famous businessman Tim Draper know the real creator of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. Terrett made the scandalous assumption after acquiring a copy of former SEC official Bill Hinman’s official meeting calendar. It showed a meeting with Satoshi and Draper back in 2017.

It should be noted that the meeting, which took place on August 23, 2017, was not secret. Already on August 26, Draper complained that he had been «targeted by a convincing Satoshi imposter who wasted a lot of his time.» Soon after, The Verge reported some details of the meeting. In general, the impostor was focused on convincing potential investors that he had indeed founded the flagship cryptocurrency.

At the end of last week, researcher Or Weinberger published an equally sensational assumption on Twitter that Satoshi Nakamoto wanted to name the first cryptocurrency other than bitcoin. And in mid-August, filmmaker Christopher Cannucciari and White Paper Films announced the start of work on the documentary I Am Not Satoshi. The film will show the crypto world’s pursuit of Nakamoto, who suddenly disappeared after the launch of bitcoin.
