Professional golfers will be awarded with bitcoins

This decision was made by the crypto platform Luno after it announced the signing of a sponsorship agreement with the Sunshine Tour, a professional men’s golf championship held in Africa.

The first place winner in the overall ranking will receive $ 31 thousand in bitcoin. The second and third places will bring 12 thousand and 6 thousand respectively.

At a press conference to announce the sponsorship, Luno General Manager Marius Reitz added: «I think our case is also important for the crypto industry as a whole, because we are launching possibly the first cryptocurrency sponsorship and the first bitcoin-paid fund on the African continent.»

It is worth noting that other crypto companies are actively developing sports sponsorships — OKX recently sponsored the McLaren team, Algorand — FIFA, and Crypto.com — the World Cup.
