Sega announces the creation of a game with cryptocurrency support
Sega has announced its partnership with the Japanese crypto startup Double Jump Tokyo. They are planning to release a new installment of the popular Sangokushi Taisen game in Japan.
It is planned that the game from Sega will use blockchain technology, although it is currently unknown how exactly it will work — whether the game will be built on existing crypto mechanics or we should expect something radically new. Nevertheless, in the face of Double Jump Tokyo, Sega wants to find a partner that will provide blockchain development.
Sangokushi Taisen is a real-time game. It is set in the period of the Three Kingdoms described in the historical A Romance of the Three Kingdoms. SI is played on arcade machines, but the game mechanics use a deck of physical cards. A popular assumption on Twitter is that the cards will be converted into NFT tokens.
As a reminder, the largest game manufacturers in Japan are committed to the introduction of blockchain games, and even those gamers who oppose the use of cryptocurrencies and NFTs will not be able to influence them. This was stated by the representative of the Oasys gaming blockchain Ryo Matsubara.
