Skype founder to start mining cryptocurrencies
Fabric Systems, a cryptographic hardware company, has raised $ 13 million in an initial round of investment to create energy-efficient bitcoin mining. One of the investors who contributed to the development of «green» mining technology is Jaan Tallinn, co-founder of Skype video communication software.
As it became known, the money came from Metaplanet, an investment company owned by Jaan Tallinn. In addition to Metaplanet, Blockchain.com and venture capital firm 8090 Partners have invested in Fabric Systems. As for Jaan Tallinn, he does not hide his commitment to the flagship cryptocurrency, so the investment in Fabric Systems is not the only one for Metaplanet in the cryptocurrency sphere.
Fabric Systems, a Silicon Valley-based company, will use the investor’s money to create an «immersive» bitcoin miner and a general-purpose accelerator for cryptographic algorithms. The cryptographic accelerator is designed to make blockchain computing faster and more efficient.
Earlier this week, it became known that the complexity of bitcoin mining increased by 13.55% in 2022. Experts noted that this is the biggest change since May 2021. According to btc.com, after the increase in mining complexity, 35.6 trillion hashes are now required to mine one BTC. The current hashrate of bitcoin is 257 million Tx/s. For example, last year, it reached about 140 million Tx/s.
