Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and payment platform Primer have announced a strategic integration. The collaboration will allow retailers around the world to add cryptocurrencies as a standard payment method when placing online orders. The Coinbase Commerce platform, which helps merchants accept cryptocurrency payments, can be added to Primer’s universal checkout with clicks rather than code. This means that merchants using Primer will be able to quickly add cryptocurrency payments to the checkout page.

According to Coinbase Commerce product manager Roy Zhang, consumers are showing a huge interest in cryptocurrency payments. By working with Primer, any merchant can make payments in digital assets as accessible to their customers as traditional payment methods such as debit and credit cards.

Primer also noted that 40% of consumers around the world plan to use digital assets as a means of paying for goods and services starting next year. Representatives of the company emphasized that the connection of Coinbase Commerce will allow retailers to gain an advantage through lower fees. It will also reduce the frequency of erroneous transactions and ensure reliable storage of information on financial transactions.

This week, it became known that Coinbase may sue 1000 of its clients from Georgia — some users took advantage of the crypto exchange’s mistake and withdrew assets 100 times higher than the exchange rate to their bank accounts. The unpleasant incident for Coinbase occurred at the end of August this year: the national currency of Georgia, the GEL, was worth $ 290 on the crypto exchange, not $ 2.90 (the real exchange rate). Coinbase explained the missed decimal point as a «technical issue with a third party.» In total, 0.001% of the total number of crypto exchange users, which is about 1000 customers, took advantage of the situation.
