Interpol has developed its own metaverse

6:50 pm, October 30, 2022

Recently, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) unveiled the first-ever metaverse specifically designed for law enforcement agencies around the world. The announcement of the metaverse took place during the 90th session of the Interpol General Assembly in New Delhi.

According to Interpol’s press release, the new metaverse is already fully operational and «allows registered users to travel through the virtual space of the Interpol General Secretariat headquarters in Lyon, France, without any geographical or physical boundaries.» In the virtual world, you can also interact with other officers and even take immersive training courses in forensic science and other police specializations.

Despite the seeming naivety and simplicity of the Interpol metaverse, there is a logic to it. First, the number of cybercrimes is growing every day, and police officers need to actively develop their understanding of cryptocurrencies and metaverse in any case. Secondly, VR technologies are only at the beginning of their development and it is important to take the first step for those who do not want to miss the train. Finally, there are entire countries that have realized the importance of met averse in the near future. This means that the trend will strengthen and continue to grow.

As a reminder, on October 18, it became known that Interpol plans to create a special unit to fight cryptocurrency hackers.
