Yahoo search engine will allow trading in cryptocurrencies

10:58 am, December 8, 2022

The American alternative investment management company Apollo Global Management, which owns the Yahoo search engine, plans to add cryptocurrency trading on the platform. Apollo will also allow sports betting through Yahoo Sports and stock trading on Yahoo Finance.

Currently, Yahoo Finance cooperates with CoinMarketCap, the world’s most popular website for tracking digital asset prices. Yahoo displays data and charts for all cryptocurrencies. Earlier, Yahoo Finance signed a partnership with CryptoCompare, but this service did not provide information on all tokens.

Apollo is serious about developing in the crypto segment, encouraging more users to use the search engine. «We are here to invest. Investments mean not only internal innovation but also openness to all partnerships, all mergers and acquisitions,» said Yahoo CEO Jim Lanzon.

As it became known, the FTX coll apse also affected Yahoo, as the company is losing user confidence due to the unclear KYC/AML policy. However, Yahoo is not talking about it at the moment.

In July, Yahoo Finance launched its own show about virtual reality and cryptocurrencies called The Crypto Mile. According to Yahoo Finance representatives, The Crypto Mile is a journey through various digital dimensions that were recently «just a fantasy of developers.» «Speaking of metaverse, each of them has unique features, from the cartoonish graphics of Meta to the decentralized pixels of Decentraland and the cyberpunk-inspired realms of Somnium Space,» the show’s developers shared their point of view.
