Tech startups have developed a system of biometric identification of cryptocurrency owners

3:36 pm, January 31, 2023

Representatives of tech startups Sentry and Infineon have announced their readiness to launch a biometric identification system for cryptocurrency holders. Users will be able to integrate IDs into almost any existing crypto infrastructure.

As Sentry explained, reliable identification has become a critical condition for access to commercial information, government assets, and operations in the cryptocurrency market. «Privacy-focused biometric systems will play a critical role in security and identification, especially in emerging markets. We believe that Sentry will be the first commercially scalable project in this area,» said Arnaud Moser, Director of Smart Card Security in the Americas at Infineon.

In addition to the launch of the identification system, Secure developers are already completing preparatory work for the release of the Sentinel biometric cold-storage crypto wallet. Secure uses the latest generation of SLC37x chips from Infineon as its element base.

The government of Dominica, an island nation on the border of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, has decided to issue digital citizenship to its population. In addition to the use of blockchain, the uniqueness of the virtual passport from Dominica is that every user can get it. Decentralized identification in Dominica is available in the application and on the website of Huobi, which has become a partner of the country. To obtain a virtual passport, you must pass KYC checks to the maximum level.
