MetaMask crypto wallet will monitor users for security purposes

MetaMask has introduced new features to its crypto wallet. The developers have added the option to detect phishing, display balance, token prices, and track incoming transactions. MetaMask is a popular Ethereum cryptocurrency wallet with over 21 million monthly active users. Back in November, the wallet was criticized after its parent company ConsenSys notified users that it was collecting IP addresses through its infrastructure provider Infura whenever customers made transactions.

on December 6, in response to community concerns, the company clarified that it would reduce the storage period for IP identifiers and wallet addresses to seven days. After the cryptocurrency wallet functionality is updated, users will be able to choose another RPC provider.

The new features can be found in the security and privacy settings of the MetaMask browser. They can also be enabled when setting up a crypto wallet for the first time or changed for existing wallets.

In January, MetaMask launched the cryptocurrency staking function. Now users can block their assets in Ethereum (ETH) through Lido or Rocket Pool and even make money on it. And in the US, crypto wallets can be deposited using the PayPal payment system. It should be added that MetaMask is only compatible with blockchains supported by the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) network, so PayPal users will not be able to fund their MetaMask crypto wallets with tokens that do not belong to the Ethereum ecosystem.
