Twitter is testing a beta version of its own digital currency
It seems that Twitter has started testing a beta version of Twitter Coins for a select number of consumers. Several social network users reported that since February 22, they have been able to purchase Twitter Coins.
Rumors about the social network’s personal digital currency started spreading in late 2022. Some of them were triggered by Nim Ovji, a user who runs a leak account on the platform. Back on December 4, he posted a screenshot of the alleged Twitter interface, which shows the «Coins» option for tipping, as well as a vector image of a koin with a company logo.
And yesterday, a Twitter user under the nickname Tree of Alpha reported that a «pack of 150 Twitter Coins for $ 1.99» was on sale. However, the only available way to purchase the coins is through the Stripe electronic payment system.
Twitter has started adding packs for «Twitter Coins» as of 10 minutes ago.

Nim Ovji again posted a screenshot where Twitter seems to be describing its native token. According to the platform, its coins are classified as «virtual goods.» Ovji noted: «When you receive coins, they accumulate like diamonds that can be converted into cash.»

Twitter said that the platform’s tokens will allow content creators to receive rewards from their followers, as well as create a channel for additional passive income.
Currently, Twitter supports payment tips in bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), which were integrated in September 2021. The platform is also expected to launch a money transfer function with connected debit cards and bank accounts.
As a reminder, you can now search for up-to-date information on cryptocurrency rates on the social network. Every time someone tweets a symbol of a stock, exchange-traded fund or digital asset with a US dollar icon in front of it, users will see an active link that will take them to search results with price charts for the coins in question.
