First book created by artificial intelligence published in Ukraine

Representatives of the Ranok publishing house, which has been publishing books for all ages for 26 years, announced the release of the first book by artificial intelligence. I Want to Go to Mars was written and illustrated entirely by artificial intelligence. Viktor Kruglov, director of Rank, told more about the unique book.

«The book I Want to Go to Mars, authored by AI, is so diverse and interesting that it surprised even our team. I believe that this is a historic moment for our industry, and we are very interested in further research and development of artificial intelligence in applications for the education and development of our children ,» Kruglov shared on his Facebook page.

«I Want to Go to Mars tells the story of human colonization of Mars. The editors of the book formulated questions for artificial intelligence on behalf of a child so that the language of the work would be understandable to the youngest readers.

«For the book-experiment, we chose a fantastic topic (not so long ago, AI itself was a fantasy) — human colonization of Mars. We imagined the hero as a child aged 5−6. There is a great future ahead, but even now the depths of space inspire the hero to search for new places for people to live ,» said the director of Rank.

The book is currently in a limited edition, and according to the publisher’s website, it will be available for purchase on March 14. «I Want to Go to Mars» contains 24 pages and is intended for children aged 5−8.

«I wonder how librarians will fill in information about the author? What does the copyright law say? And in general, what is the future of humanity?» — these questions of Viktor Kruglov still remain unanswered.

In early February, representatives of the Staryi Lev Publishing House presented the book, the images for which were created by artificial intelligence. The images for Marina Ponomarenko’s book The Book of Love and Rage were created using the Midjourney neural network.
