Russian hackers attacked the website of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and other state platforms
Russian hackers have once again attacked Ukrainian government agencies. The attackers targeted: State registries, websites of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, and the State Enterprise National Information Systems.
According to representatives of the Judiciary of Ukraine portal, due to the large volume of traffic during the DDoS attack, users of the resources may experience problems with accessing them. In particular, it is sometimes impossible to access the website of the Ministry of Justice.
«The State Enterprise „National Information Systems“ informs that on March 17, 2023, a cyberattack on the state resources of Ukraine, including the Unified and State Registers, websites of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, SE „NAIS“, etc. Specialists of the State Enterprise „NAIS“ together with the provider’s specialists are working to solve the problem,» the Judiciary of Ukraine website said in a statement.
This and other attacks were warned by Microsoft yesterday. The main goal of the hackers is to negatively affect the work of Ukrainian government agencies and learn more information about military facilities. The analysts pointed to a «particularly active» group of Sandworm hackers that is testing «additional capabilities of ransomware that can be used to launch devastating attacks on organizations outside Ukraine that perform key functions in supply chains.»
Last week, the head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, Yuriy Shchyhol, analyzed the possible causes of cyberattacks and outlined the necessary steps to prevent them. According to Shchyhol, 9 out of 10 cyberattacks on Ukraine occur due to the negligence and ignorance of personnel. «To reduce the risks, we advise all companies, and members of the media community in particular, to constantly audit the cybersecurity of their own systems to identify possible security gaps in time and identify steps to eliminate them,» Shchyhol said.
