Software developer destroys more than $ 23 million worth of equipment intended for Russia
The American company Cisco Systems, a manufacturer of networking equipment and software, has disposed of its own products that were intended for the Russian market. In total, the company destroyed equipment worth 1.86 billion rubles, which is equivalent to about $ 23.4 million. The decision to destroy the stocks was made in August 2022 as a result of EU sanctions.
Moreover, the main property of the Cisco Systems division in the territory of the terrorist state, including vehicles, office furniture and equipment, was also destroyed. The same fate befell product demonstration samples. In total, the amount of destroyed property in Russia exceeded one billion rubles.
According to its financial statements, the company also terminated most of the labor contracts with its employees in Russia in July-August 2022. By this time, the number of Russian employees in the company had dropped to five.
In March 2022, Cisco Systems Inc.'s headquarters in the United States decided to suspend all sales in the occupying country, and in June it completely closed its business and exited the Russian market. By the way, Cisco owns a subsidiary, Cisco Solutions, which distributed electronic and communication equipment abroad. There is currently no information on whether it has ceased its services in Russia.
However, it is not only official sanctions that show the terrorist state its true place in the world. As a reminder, thanks to Ukrainian hackers, a Russian collaborator bought sex toys instead of drones. The purchase amounted to $ 25,000. The so-called «volunteer» Mikhail Luchin was purchasing UAVs for the occupiers, but Ukrainian hacktivists from Cyber Resistance gained access to the criminal’s details and disposed of the funds at their own discretion.
