Metamask wallet will have its own cryptocurrency

CoinMarketCap, the world’s most popular website for tracking crypto asset prices, has added a page for MetaMask, a software wallet from ConsenSys. The project is located in the «untraceable listing» section. The page contains links to many official MetaMask resources.

Later, a plate appeared on the site, stating that the page was reserved for a possible official token, the plans for which were confirmed by Jacobc. eth and ConsenSys CEO Joe Lubin. The plate also states that there are no details yet — neither the release date nor the methods of distribution of the future token, only a call to beware of phishing sites and check the official MetaMask resources for timely new information.

The cryptocurrency community was suspicious of the news, given that it had previously encountered various rumors on this topic. Thus, on March 31, 2023, unconfirmed information about the planned MetaMask airdrop appeared. Soon after, the project team denied this information on its official Twitter page, claiming that it was fraudsters.

In 2022, there were similar rumors. In particular, at one point, there was an opportunity to purchase the MASK token on the decentralized PancakeSwap exchange. It soon turned out to be a scam coin.
