Mastercard will work with cryptocurrencies despite any bans, the company says
The payment giant Mastercard, in partnership with crypto companies, will expand its cryptocurrency payment card program despite the banks' wariness, regulators' attention, and any bans. This became known to Reuters journalists.
Raj Dhamodharan, Head of Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain at Mastercard, explained that Mastercard has dozens of partners around the world offering its cryptocurrency programs. The company plans to expand cooperation.
«Providing secure access to cryptocurrencies is part of our value proposition, and we continue to do so,» Dhamodharan emphasized.
Currently, the payment giant cooperates with cryptocurrency exchanges Binance, Nexo, and Gemini. The partners plan to launch cryptocurrency payment cards in different countries. Existing Binance payment cards allow users to make payments in fiat using digital assets stored on the exchange.
A few months ago, Mastercard entered into a partnership with Immersve, a payment protocol for blockchain projects. As part of the collaboration, cryptocurrency holders and users interested in virtual reality will be able to conduct transactions in metaverse, digital marketplaces, and simply by shopping in regular stores.
Also in January, it became known that Mastercard plans to create its own NFT collection. The project will be a part of the initiative to help artists who want to develop their brands through the Web3 space. As part of the initiative, the Mastercard Artist Accelerator program will be created, which will use the Polygon blockchain.
