The first 64 bitcoin miners earned $ 84 billion

6:30 pm, June 9, 2022

In a recent study, researchers from the United States and Australia found that some of the first participants in the Bitcoin network mined 2,676,800 BTC ($ 84 billion), and the cryptocurrency itself was not truly decentralized.

After analyzing data on the early days of Bitcoin, the researchers found that mining resources back then (2009) «were very centralized.» At that time, the cryptocurrency had a limited number of supporters, so few managed to make money.

It’s worth noting that more than one million BTC ($ 30 billion) was amassed by Satoshi Nakamoto, who has never appeared in public since April 2011, and there are rumors of his death. This means that a little less than half of all unused bitcoins were concentrated in the wallet of just one person — the cryptocurrency’s creator.

Recently, the president of Lamoureux & Co, a macroeconomic research company, said that by the end of 2023, the Bitcoin rate will reach $ 100,000.
