It turned out that the author of the PEPE meme did not know about the existence of the RER cryptocurrency, which has grown by 39,000%

5:11 pm, May 10, 2023

California artist Matt Furey, who created the Pepe the Frog meme, said he did not know about the RER meme. The new token managed to grow by 39,000% in just a few weeks.

According to Fury, he knew nothing about PEPE until he was asked about the digital asset. The artist said this during a conversation on Twitter Space dedicated to the launch of the Zogs NFT collection. In response to a question about the success of the REE token, Fury said: «This is the first I’ve heard of it.»

Fury noted that he knows about the existence of several cryptocurrencies, but he is a DOGE maximalist: «I've heard of Ethereum, I’ve heard of Bitcoin, and I’ve heard of Dogecoin — is [PEPE] something like that? I’m a Dogecoin maximalist.»

In the comments below the recording of the conversation, users suggested that Fury was most likely mocking his interlocutor.

In August 2021, Fury insisted on removing the Sad Frogs District NFT collection from OpenSea. The non-fungible tokens contained images of frogs like Pepe, created by Fury. It is not yet clear whether Fury plans to demand that cryptocurrency exchanges delist PEPE.

At the time of writing, the PEPE token is listed on Binance, KuCoin, Uniswap, Gemini, OKX, and Huobi. The market capitalization of PEPE is $ 758.4 million, and the trading volume in the last 24 hours exceeded $ 560 million. The PEPE rate has increased by 638% over the past 14 days.

As a reminder, yesterday the Ripple cryptocurrency became the leader of the anti-rating among cryptocurrencies that lost more than 10% of their value.
