Cryptocurrency will become an important weapon in the next wars, the US says

12:13 pm, May 11, 2023

Jason Lowry, a consultant to the U.S. Armed Forces and a researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is confident that future military conflicts will be resolved with the help of crypto technologies.

Jason Lowry said that digital assets, especially bitcoin, are «a national strategic imperative that the United States must support and embrace as soon as possible, otherwise it risks losing its title as a global superpower.»

«Based on scientific concepts in the fields of evolution, biology, anthropology, political science, and computer theory, we can say that new technologies have a huge impact on how people organize, cooperate, and compete on a global scale,» Lowry emphasized.

The military officer noted that the PoW consensus mechanism, on which the MTC operates, is a significant driver for modern warfare. Lowry believes that the most effective military move would be to accumulate digital reserves like bitcoin. Lowry even wrote a dissertation on «Soft War: A New Theory of Power Projection and the National Strategic Importance of Bitcoin.»

The expert is sure that countries with a large number of bitcoins in reserve are likely to remain in power, while countries with fewer HTPs will find it more difficult to «leave a mark on history.»

Obviously, not all analysts and military experts will agree with Lowry’s opinion. For a long time, market players have been observing tensions between the cryptocurrency industry and the US government. Many are convinced that the flagship cryptocurrency will not be able to prevent «classical» methods of warfare, as governments are already using digital assets to finance military operations and cyberwarfare.

One recent example is the FSB and other intelligence agencies of a terrorist country. At the end of April, an unknown cryptocurrency hacker identified 986 BTC wallets belonging to the Russian Federation, which are used to finance cyberattacks. The amount of funds found on the wallets is currently unknown. It is also not clear how the hacker gained access to some of the addresses.
