Three days later, on May 21, Hanetz offered the unusual deal again. The next day, Jeremy Sturdivant ordered 2 pizzas with mushrooms for the programmer at the popular Papa John’s restaurant, which was the first purchase for cryptocurrency.

Later on, Hanetz was very upset that he went down in cryptocurrency history for buying pizza, because he had other significant achievements. The developer learned about BTC back in 2009, and a year later he released a GPU miner that became a bold experiment in bitcoin mining.

Hanetz studied graphics cards and concluded that they could allow him to mine much more bitcoins than processors. The programmer’s theory turned out to be correct, and he managed to increase the hashing power by about 10 times.

Regarding the first purchase with BTC, it was recently reported on Twitter that in 2010, Sabunir tried to sell a JPEG image for 500 bitcoins before Laszlo Hanec bought two pizzas for 10,000 BTC. On his social media page, the developer Udi Wertheimer shared a screenshot that shows that the first purchase using BTC was a digital image. The date on the image is January 24, 2010, four months before the pizza purchase.

However, some experts claim that 500 BTC were sent as a donation. «He [Sabunir] posted his address to send NFT funds on January 24 and then posted it again in the BTC logo thread on February 24. on February 24, 500 bitcoins were sent, and on February 25, he thanked 2 people for their donations ,» one user said.
