Unknown persons who robbed a decentralized crypto exchange returned $ 2 million

Some of the stolen assets of the Osmosis cryptocurrency exchange will be returned to liquidity pools, the decentralized platform’s representatives said.

The attack took place on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. Initially, a post by one of the programmers appeared on Reddit, pointing out an error in the crypto exchange’s liquidity pool. It allowed withdrawing 50% more funds from the crypto exchange than were invested. And this operation could be carried out endlessly.

Twelve minutes after the record appeared, the crypto exchange shut down its blockchain. But at that point, six unknown persons withdrew $ 5 million from the exchange. Two of them, who withdrew about $ 2 million, agreed to return the «stolen» funds.
