Adobe extends free license for its products for Russians despite EU sanctions

3:34 pm, May 30, 2023

Adobe, a developer of popular graphics and video software, automatically renews licenses for its users in Russia without charging a fee. This is reported by propaganda media with reference to their own sources in IT companies of the terrorist state.

According to one of these employees, the free extension applies only to individual subscriptions that were purchased through the official Adobe website and linked to a payment card. The Russians consider this «a gesture of goodwill on the part of the company, which wants to keep its customers and support them in a difficult time.» Another informant said that this option appeared only six months ago and does not allow purchasing a new subscription, but only extending the existing one.

Yegor Sechinsky, CEO of Ninsar. Games, a game studio operating in the territory of the aggressor state, also confirmed that his subscription to the Adobe package has been active for a year, although he has not paid for it. The Russian officially announced this at a discussion panel during one of the sessions of the occupying country’s online forum.

As a reminder, in March 2022, Adobe stopped selling new products and services in Russia. After that, users could not buy subscriptions to Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc. In addition, Adobe blocked access to its cloud storage for Russian state media.

And in April 2022, Adobe allowed the renewal of its product licenses for those Russian customers who had purchased them earlier. However, this applied only to corporate users of the VIP package. The license could be renewed at the Softline Store, Adobe’s official partner in the terrorist country.

It is worth noting that the ninth package of sanctions imposed by the European Union included a ban on the supply of laptops and software, generators and leisure drones to Russia. However, some Western companies are still looking for ways to sell their products to the enemy to circumvent the sanctions.
