Twitter users defend cryptocurrency detective — details are already known

A well-known Taiwanese entrepreneur Jeffrey Huang has filed a lawsuit against ZachXBT, a popular web3-media analyst.

ZachXBT is accused of defamation regarding Huang’s misappropriation of 22,000 ETH. The article in question is a 2022 article in which ZachXBT accused Jeffrey Huang, also known as «Machi Big Brother,» of misappropriating 22,000 ETH from crypto asset management company Formosa Financial. The article is still available online.

The lawsuit, filed by Huang’s lawyers, claims that the article lacks evidence and that «the defendant’s allegations of possible criminal behavior by the plaintiff are categorically false.» Huang’s lawyers said that the «blockchain investigator» only sought to make his own profit by using the article’s popularity and attracting «additional donations to finance his lifestyle, at the expense of the plaintiff’s reputation.»

The Taiwanese entrepreneur’s attempts to remove the article from the public domain were unsuccessful, so he is seeking a jury trial and damages.

ZachXBT responded to this accusation with a series of tweets and stated that the lawsuit is completely baseless and an attempt to restrict freedom of speech. The analyst intends to sue and has launched a separate wallet for donations «for legal fees, which could easily exceed $ 1 million.» It is worth noting that most of the blockchain analyst’s followers support him in this dispute and many send micro-donations.
