The US intelligence service could have participated in the development of bitcoin

Popular crypto enthusiast Nick Carter tried to explain the controversial theory that the US National Security Agency played a crucial role in the creation of the flagship cryptocurrency. In the years since bitcoin was created, members of the crypto community have repeatedly put forward assumptions and conspiracy theories about how, by whom, and why BTC was created.

One version is that bitcoin was invented by the Chinese Communist Party, probably for the sake of world domination. Others argued that it was the work of good Samaritans who wanted to help society develop. Still others were convinced that the traces lead to the CIA, and that the pseudonym of the creator of the HTS, Сатоші Накамото" href="https://noworries.news/biography/satoshi-nakamoto/" data-bio-id="4232">Satoshi Nakamoto, could be interpreted as an abbreviation of the main US spy agency, the CIA. This is because «nakamoto» means «central» in Japanese, and the name «satoshi» means «intelligent».

Nick Carter confirms the assumption by saying that the SHA-256 secure hashing algorithm used to obtain transaction IDs and block hashes was created by Glenn M. Lilly. Mathematician Glenn Lilly developed the algorithm under the direction of the National Security Agency (NSA) and published it in 2001. Later, Lilly took a position in the NSA’s mathematical research department.

Nick Carter called his new statement «the bitcoin leakage hypothesis from the lab». He believes that initially, the VTS blockchain was a closed internal NSA research project, a new «monetary weapon» for collecting information about the enemy and undermining the economic foundations of third countries.

Carter’s opinion is shared by Matthew Pines, Director of Intelligence at Krebs Stamos. The cryptography analyst believes that the creation of bitcoin may be the result of cooperation between NSA cryptography experts and crypto enthusiasts. According to Pines, some kind of communication failure occurred during the research, so an anonymous developer inadvertently leaked proprietary information. After that, the VTS project became public.

The NSA was one of the first organizations to describe a Bitcoin-like system in a 1996 article titled «How to Create a Mint: Cryptography for Anonymous Electronic Money.» In the article, the authors proposed the existence of a system that uses open-source cryptography to allow users to make anonymous payments without revealing their identity.

Satoshi Nakamoto, widely considered to be the creator of bitcoin, disappeared from the public domain in April 2011 and has not been seen since, leading to speculation that he is dead. Before his disappearance, Nakamoto claimed to be Japanese, born on April 5, 1975. However, he spoke English very well, so many believed him to be a resident of an English-speaking country.
