UAE to launch the first virtual hospital in the meta-universe

9:14 am, July 8, 2022

The United Arab Emirates has announced the launch of the first virtual hospital, promising that patients will have less need to visit real medical facilities.

According to representatives of the Thumbay Group (an international corporation that operates in various areas of medicine), the developers have already started working on the project and promise that the first virtual medical facility will be launched this October.

The developers emphasize that there will be no «physical contact»: there will be no need to waste time on the road and possible traffic jams, stand in line, or wait for a doctor to examine you. «Your avatar will go to the hospital, communicate with a specialist, and receive effective advice on your treatment,» said Thumbay Group representatives.

Interestingly, Thumbay Group has promised to provide disabled people who want to use virtual reality services with VR devices that «will help them not to have to leave home and put a lot of effort into visiting a doctor.» The company is currently training real doctors to work in virtual reality.

The hospital by Thumbay Group is not the only medical facility in virtual reality. In late May, the British dental group Dental Design Studio bought land in the Sandbox metaverse. Thus, in addition to appointments in 15 real offices across the UK, the dental chain will also receive clients in virtual reality. In general, virtual dentistry will be as usual: patients will be able to sit in a dentist’s chair, get a consultation, enjoy virtual procedures, communicate with staff, and watch videos about dental hygiene.
