SpaceX will send little-known cryptocurrency tokens to the moon’s orbit
Two cryptocurrency tokens tied to the space logistics and energy company Geometric Energy Corporation will be launched into the moon’s orbit on the DOGE-1 satellite. The launch is scheduled for January 12 using a SpaceX rocket. The mission will take off from the Kennedy Space Center in the United States.
GEC, a token issued by Geometric Energy Corporation, has more than quadrupled in price over the past week. Another token, XI, which is rumored to be used to pay for advertising displayed on the satellite, soared by 36%. Together, they have a market capitalization of just over $ 30 million and more than 6,000 individual holders.
Earlier, the Dogecoin developers announced that the cryptocurrency wallet with the DOGE memo token would fly to the moon as part of a space mission with a payload. The flight to the Earth’s satellite is planned by Astrobotic, a Pittsburgh-based company. The mission is scheduled for December 23 and will carry 21 payloads from governments, companies, universities, and NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative.
It is worth noting that many cryptocurrency enthusiasts and DOGE supporters believe that Elon Musk has been secretly funding the development of the cryptocurrency.
Thus, in February, Musk attracted $ 500 million in investments in DOGE by publishing a photo of his dog. In April, after the Twitter logo was changed to a picture of a dog meme, Dogecoin’s price soared by more than 20%.
It should be added that not all members of the cryptocurrency community gave a positive assessment of Musk’s actions, and in June of this year, several Dogecoin owners filed a class action lawsuit against the businessman. The owner of Tesla was accused of insider trading in cryptocurrencies and demanded $ 258 billion in compensation for losses.
