Google will start testing its own augmented reality glasses
Google will start testing its own augmented reality glasses as early as August 2022, according to Justin Payne, product manager of the company’s augmented and virtual reality division.
According to Justin Payne, the next generation AR glasses will be tested in real conditions to better understand how these devices can help people in everyday life with their constant use. According to the developers, the testing will take place in different weather conditions and on streets with busy traffic.
Google employees and trusted partners will take part in the testing. The AR glasses will be equipped with cameras, microphones, and displays built into the lens to use functions such as translation, transcription, and navigation. However, photo and video shooting is not yet available in augmented reality glasses.
As a reminder, electronics manufacturer HTC has recently launched the first smartphone compatible with virtual reality and the Vive Flow VR headset (virtual reality glasses). «Our smartphone guarantees a new virtual reality experience thanks to the perfect partner for Vive Flow glasses, whether it’s meeting colleagues in a metaverse or watching a movie with friends,» said HTC’s Head of Product, Shen Yeh.
