The owner of the amazon. eth domain refused to sell it for a million dollars

7:25 pm, July 20, 2022

According to data from the OpenSea marketplace, the owner of the amazon. eth domain refused to sell it for a million dollars. An anonymous investor offered $ 1 million for the domain of one of the world’s largest corporations, Amazon, but the owner of amazon. eth ignored the offer and it expired.

Back on October 18, 2019, the amazon. eth domain was purchased for 100 ETH (approximately $ 20,000 at the time). Later, on February 8, 2022, the domain was purchased for 33 ETH (approximately $ 102,000 at the time). If amazon. eth had been sold, the user who purchased the domain in February would have received 1000% of the profit.

Ethereum Name, a naming platform for web3 projects, allows you to convert long strings of data into easy-to-read and memorable addresses. This helps users avoid unwanted troubles, as in the case of the crypto provider Wintermute, whose representatives indicated the wrong wallet address and «gave» 20 million ETH into the hands of a hacker. The multisig address provided by Wintermute was on the first level of Ethereum, not on the L2. In an attempt to reverse the L2 address, the crypto provider’s representatives were outpaced by the hacker, who took the funds.
