The US will adopt a law on cryptocurrencies in 2023

5:20 pm, July 21, 2022

US lawmakers have stated that the topic of cryptocurrencies is too big to consider, so they will not be able to pass a bill on digital assets by the end of 2022 — they hope to pass a new law in 2023.

As Senators Cynthia Lummis and Kirsten Gillibrand said at the Bloomberg Crypto Summit, a law to regulate the crypto industry is likely to be passed in 2023. «Kirsten and I believe that the bill will most likely be delayed. This is a big overarching topic, still new to many senators. Therefore, they will need much more time to understand the draft than the last few months of this year,» said Cynthia Lummis.

Recently, the US Treasury Department presented a document that sets the boundaries of interstate cooperation in the field of digital assets. The department set out the program’s goals as protecting consumers in the US and around the world by promoting technologies and standards that reflect US values and countering foreign adversaries' attempts to implement standards and promote their own protocols.
