US resident raises $ 1.5 million to develop non-existent cryptocurrency bot

5:32 pm, March 30, 2024

a 46-year-old American, Robert Robb, was arrested in Las Vegas on fraud charges.

The man cheated crypto investors out of $ 1.5 million to create a trading bot, but never fulfilled his promises. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Robert Robb posted messages on social media titled «Poof, you’re a millionaire» with a picture of a fairy wearing a mushroom hat. Potential investors were promised huge profits if they used a special MEV bot and invested in the RAT cryptocurrency and the NoRugz token.

The scammer promised that the new bot would scan blockchain networks to make profitable trading deals. In just a few weeks, Robb convinced several investors to send him a total of $ 1.5 million. However, the promised bot never appeared.

The affected investors said that Robb repeatedly found excuses for the delay and did not respond to requests for a refund. Later, the police found out that instead of developing a trading tool, the fraudster transferred the money to his personal bank accounts and then spent it on buying a luxury car and vacationing in the Bahamas.
