Satoshi-era bitcoin miner makes a transaction for the first time in 14 years
A bitcoin wallet belonging to an early miner and containing 4,000 BTC has made a transaction for the first time in 14 years. According to analytical platform Lookonchain, citing Arkham data, the address «18eY9…6EfyM» transferred 150 BTC (about $ 16.6 million) to another, unidentified wallet on Thursday, October 23.
According to analysts, these 4,000 BTC were mined back in 2009 — in the first months after the launch of the Bitcoin network BTC $112,157.00 Mezo Wrapped BTC 1.21% Market capitalization $59.79 million VOL. 24 hours $2.68 billion - and were consolidated to this address in 2011. At that time, the entire volume of coins was worth only $ 16,400, while today their value exceeds $ 442 million.

Such movements of old bitcoins are of great interest to investors, as dormant wallets associated with the early history of the cryptocurrency are rarely active. Some of them belong to the so-called «Satoshi whales» — mining pioneers who mined BTC before the advent of exchanges and industrial farms.
According to The Block, at the time of the transaction, Bitcoin grew by 2.2% per day and was trading at around $ 110,656. The activity of such old wallets coincided with the broader market rally that has been going on since the beginning of the year.
Earlier in July, another longtime bitcoin holder sold more than 80,000 BTC (worth more than $ 9 billion at the time) through Galaxy Digital. Last month, several other large wallets also moved tens of millions of dollars in cryptocurrency after more than a decade of inactivity.
