MTV to create its own virtual reality

MTV is creating its own virtual space in the online gaming platform Roblox. For this initiative, the company has partnered with Super League Gaming Inc. The collaboration aims to attract viewers who want to take part in the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA). Participants will be able to play three different games, the first of which was released on August 12. The next two games will be released before the annual VMA ceremony, which is scheduled for August 29.

Initially, MTV started exploring metaverse through the popular Microsoft Minecraft game. Now, MTV and Paramount Media Network executives are excited to bring the MTV Video Music Awards to a wider audience on Roblox. The company’s target audience is teenage children whose musical tastes are just being formed and who may become the channel’s future viewers. The TV network offers viewers the opportunity to vote for their favorite virtual music performance using a special token with the MTV logo, which they will receive during the VMA game.

Last month, MTV added the nomination for Best Music Performance in the Metaverse to its award categories. Ariana Grande, Twenty One Pilots, and Justin Bieber were among the contenders.
