A major owner of the cryptocurrency bitcoin suddenly became active after 13 years of inactivity

The address in question contains 59 bitcoins (approximately $ 3.8 million at the time of publication).

The recent activation coincided with a significant jump in the price of bitcoin. Earlier today, the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization managed to briefly regain the $ 64,000 level for the first time since late August. However, it is unlikely that the wallet came back to life due to the price increase, as there is no clear pattern of such activations.

According to Whale Alert, several wallets were activated this month after more than a decade of hiatus. For example, for the first time in almost 11 years, a bitcoin wallet containing 43 BTC (over $ 2.5 million at the time) came out of hibernation. Last week, Whale Alert recorded four such wallets.

One of these wallets contained $ 10.5 million worth of bitcoins at the time of activation. Such ancient wallets, which date back to the time of bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, are quite rare. In August, Whale Alert recorded only two wallets with more than 13 years of inactivity.
