US Senator believes that bitcoin mining is good for the environment

Texas Senator Ted Cruz suggested that BTC mining has additional environmental benefits. The politician wanted to dispel environmentalists' concerns about excessive energy consumption during cryptocurrency mining.

Cruz stated that bitcoin mining is «a net plus for the environment, especially if miners focus on using renewable energy sources.» Interestingly, Cruz suggested that bitcoin mining leads to prosperity for families involved in cryptocurrency activities, as «it creates entrepreneurs.»

«Bitcoin is a room full of entrepreneurs, full of people who are providing for their families, and their prosperity is also a net positive for the environment,» the Texas senator said.

Cruz added that despite the flurry of criticism against bitcoin mining, this activity can coexist with other forms of energy use by sharing the network. «Because of the ability of bitcoin mining to instantly turn on or off, if you have a power shortage or a crisis due to a natural disaster, it creates the ability to instantly switch power to get it back on the grid,» the politician emphasized.
