Anatoliy Yakovenko presents a new token that will work via radio channels
Solana Labs CEO Anatoliy Yakovenko surprised the public with a fictional cryptocurrency that he introduced on April 1. Yakovenko published a white paper for his cryptocurrency called «BunkerCoin».
Yakovenko described BunkerCoin as «a revolutionary blockchain protocol designed to work within the constraints of low-bandwidth networks.» The coin is supposed to work through short-wave radio channels.
Miners will validate blocks and maintain network security with a «new time-elapsed validation delay function (VDF).» The protocol’s consensus mechanism will be based on the Nakamoto-style longest chain rule, which allows all nodes to agree on what the chain looks like.
The innovative cryptocurrency is supposed to provide stable communication in «bandwidth-constrained environments.»
It should be noted that the coin is still a joke. Therefore, any BunkerCoins that may appear after Yakovenko’s publication are a scam. However, the idea of broadcasting cryptocurrencies on the radio is not new. Rodolfo Novak, co-founder of cryptocurrency startup CoinKite, sent the first bitcoin transaction of its kind via a radio station in 2019.
