Anatoly Yakovenko: Solana has surpassed Ethereum

12:48 pm, June 14, 2024

Anatoliy Yakovenko, founder of the Solana blockchain BTC $74,734.81 Bitcoin -0.71% Market capitalization $1.48 trillion VOL. 24 hours $5.24 billion , said that the SOL network has significantly surpassed the Ethereum ETH $2,822.10 Bridged Ether (StarkGate) 7.81% Market capitalization $0.23 billion VOL. 24 hours $2.41 billion network in terms of the economic barrier to node participation in the network consensus. According to the developer, Solana has outperformed Ethereum by 10 times in this regard.

Most often, blockchains rely on a distributed network of computers that are nodes. They carry out the necessary transaction checks and play a crucial role in maintaining the network’s performance. The whole process is called consensus and ensures that all network nodes work together to improve blockchain security and efficiency.

However, Yakovenko emphasized that not all nodes are equal and participating in the consensus process can be expensive. Usually, the costs increase as users need to use powerful hardware. The expert explained that the most expensive nodes in Solana are mainly due to the investments Ethereum has made in the Boneh-Lynn-Sacham (BLS) aggregation for consensus messages.

Boneh-Lynn-Sacham is a cryptographic signature system used on the Ethereum network. It is primarily used to verify the authenticity of a signature.

It is noteworthy that both assets have lost value over the past week. But this applies to almost all cryptocurrencies in the top 10 by capitalization. The only exception was Toncoin. Over the past 7 days, the asset has added a little more than 2.7% and is ranked 9th in the overall cryptocurrency ranking.
