Fiat money can be deposited to Monero.com through SEPA and SWIFT payment systems, as well as through major card systems Visa and MasterCard. Purchases of cryptocurrencies using fiat money will be possible after the customer has been verified through the KYC procedure. Meanwhile, transactions to exchange one cryptocurrency for another can be authorized without KYC. The new service is available in most countries of the world, except for the United States and sanctioned territories.
Some members of the crypto community were confused by the need to undergo KYC checks. At the same time, the Monero.com team assured that its KYC policy is much simpler and faster than many cryptocurrency exchanges — no proof of residence or copies of documents are required.
Distrust on the part of users of the anonymous crypto coin has already become a meme on social media. In mid-April, Monero coin holders were going to massively withdraw their savings from cryptocurrency exchanges. They did not pursue any goal, they just wanted to check whether the crypto exchanges had sold their coins.
