Artificial intelligence agent OpenClaw arbitrarily deleted emails of Meta’s top manager
Summer Yue, a Meta AI security researcher , reported an incident with the OpenClaw AI agent. She instructed the system to organize her inbox, but the agent started deleting emails en masse, ignoring commands to stop. According to Yue, she had to urgently intervene from another device to stop the process.

OpenClaw, formerly known as Clawdbot, is an open-source service that allows you to run local AI agents. It gained popularity in late January, particularly among Mac mini users. Yue explained that she had previously tested the agent on other hardware and trusted its performance, so she allowed it to access real mail.
The incident sparked a debate among social media users: even if a security researcher faced a problem, how secure are ordinary users? Yue admitted that it was a «rookie mistake.»
Meanwhile, the conflict with the crypto community continues around OpenClaw. The project’s founder, Peter Steinberger, refused to launch the token, which led to criticism and attempts at pressure. He stated that due to the harassment, he was forced to introduce strict moderation, including a complete ban on cryptocurrency mentions on the Discord server.
Despite this, some users believe that cryptocurrencies could become a natural tool for payments in decentralized AI agents. The developer insists that the project should remain independent of tokens and speculation, focusing on functionality and security.
