Rick and Morty author announces the release of a unique NFT series based on the blockchain

5:47 pm, March 3, 2023

American television writer and creator of the cult animated series Rick and Morty Dan Harmon has signed an agreement with Fox Entertainment to produce the third season of the NFT series Krapopolis. The story is unique in that not a single episode of the series has been released yet.

According to Deadline journalists, citing Michael Thorne, Fox Entertainment’s president of scripted programming, the first season will premiere in 2023−2024. The exact timing of the first episode is unknown.

«The more we work on creating Krapopolis, the more we get excited about the storylines, the impeccable graphics, the voices, the amazing events and the outrageous, unexpected fun,» said Michael Thorne.

Krapopolis is set in mythical Ancient Greece. The series focuses on a group of characters who manage the first human settlements while trying not to kill each other.

As part of the series, the Web3 division of the FOX TV network released the Krapopolis Krap Chickens NFT collection. According to OpenSea, the most expensive NFT is sold for 1000 ETH (about $ 1.6 million), and the cheapest for 0.109 ETH (about $ 170).

People often try to make non-fungible tokens into cartoon characters. However, sometimes there is more excitement about NFT-related mishaps than about the films themselves. For example, in 2022, American actor Seth Green suspended the production of an animated series due to the theft of a token from the Bored Apes Yacht Club collection, which was used as the main character in the movie. In the end, Green was able to get the NFT back, but the series itself did not arouse as much interest among users as the theft of the token.
