Bill Murray to launch his own NFT collection with digital tokens about his life

Hollywood actor Bill Murray, known for the films Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, and The Jungle Book, will launch a collection of non-fungible tokens about his life and career and create his own Discord server.

His son Jackson Murray told Decrypt about the actor’s plans in the crypto world. The NFT collection was developed on the Ethereum blockchain in collaboration with The Chive website, blockchain startup Project Venkman, and Bill Murray himself. Each NFT is a photo of the actor and a story from his life, with a total of 1000 non-fungible tokens available for purchase.

According to Jackson Murray, his father was not interested in stories with fictional characters such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunks. Instead, Murray Sr. wanted to give everyone an opportunity to learn more about him and even communicate with him (this can be done in the actor’s Discord community).

They also plan to hold offline meetings with the actor twice a year for NFT holders. Jackson did not disclose the details of such meetings, but emphasized that «people will be able to meet, communicate with Murray, and learn about his future creative plans.»

The first buyers of each NFT story will receive a special gift — a silver coin that will be a pass to The Chive Gold, Silver and Black annual dinner, which is open to a limited number of influential people in America. The first 100 NFTs will go on sale on July 15 on the Coinbase NFT platform, with an estimated price of 1.5 ETH (about $ 1620 at the current exchange rate) per non-fungible token.

Bill Murray is not the only global star who has started his business in the virtual world. Actor Johnny Depp has recently released the Never Fear Truth NFT collection, and rapper Snoop Dogg is planning to launch his own meta-universe in addition to a collection of non-fungible tokens.
