7:52 pm, June 5, 2022

Binance has published the 10 most expensive NFTs ever sold as of May 2022, which we decided to share with our readers.

1. «Everydays: The First 5000 Days» — sold for $ 69.3 million

Everydays: The First 5000 Days is a digital work by American graphic designer Mike Winkelman, better known as Beeple. This NFT was sold for $ 69.3 million in February 2021 and was bought by an NFT investor under the pseudonym Metakovan at Christie’s.

This NFT is a collage of 5000 early Beeple works. In 2007, Beeple began uploading a new image to his Instagram feed every day for 13 years. His «everyday» artworks are often depicted in post-apocalyptic landscapes and usually have some relation to current news or pop culture. This NFT collage can be considered a reflection of Beeple’s development as a digital artist.

2. Clock — $ 52.7 million

Clock depicts a dynamic timer that counts the number of days spent in prison by WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Assange is involved in a highly controversial case. He faces extradition from the UK to the US on numerous espionage charges and up to 175 years in prison.

This NFT was curated by digital artist Park and Assange himself to support his legal bills. This NFT was auctioned off for 16,953 ETH in February 2022, to AssangeDAO, a decentralized organization (DAO) created to crowdfund and purchase this very NFT. In addition to the ETH they used to purchase Clock, AssangeDAO still holds the 17,422 ETH they originally raised to buy the NFT.

Park and Assange not only curated Clock, but also allowed anyone to create their own NFTs. Users can tokenize a censored message for any price or for free. The message will turn into an image showing crossed-out words as if they were censored. The profits from this NFT series will go to the pro-freedom organizations chosen by Assange and Park.

3. HUMAN ONE — $ 28.9 million

Another revolutionary NFT from Beeple, HUMAN ONE is his first physical work of art that he created. In November 2021, it was sold at Christie’s for $ 28.9 million.

HUMAN ONE is a 3D moving sculpture with 4 digital screens. It displays an endless video of an astronaut traveling to different places at different times of the day. The hybrid work of art reflects Beeple’s artistic ambitions beyond digital reality.

CryptoPunks is one of the first well-known NFT projects that continues to be on the list of the most expensive NFTs.
