Binance apologizes for swastika emoji
After a shocking reaction from the crypto community and major global and local media, the tweet with the new emoji was deleted and the exchange apologized:
«This was obviously embarrassing. We don’t know how this emoji passed several levels of verification without anyone noticing. We will develop a new design,» Binance representatives said.
Yesterday, Binance unveiled a new emoji on Twitter that resembled a swastika (on Hitler’s birthday, to boot!). Most likely, the people who worked on the emoji did not have the necessary cultural background. The swastika symbol, which is associated with Nazism in the West, is perceived by the Eastern world as a symbol of divinity and spirituality and is widely represented in local religions and cults.
