Blockchain technologies will help Uber fight hackers
Experts in the field of Web3 technologies have offered the American company Uber Technologies a solution that will help fight hacker attacks. According to analysts, blockchain technologies will protect all confidential information, and decentralized management will allow users to control their data independently.
As experts told Cointelegraph, Web2 applications are becoming more vulnerable with the further development of technologies. The problem lies in the structure of such applications, where absolutely all confidential information is stored, from consumer habits to bank card data. The best solution at the moment is to develop a Web3 version of Uber. Functionally, the application will remain unchanged, but the difference is in the «content»: decentralized management, data protection, and individual monetization methods.
Users will be able to manage their own data independently. Developers, investors, drivers, and passengers will have equal rights to joint ownership, management, and revenue distribution. «It will be a program by users for users,» blockchain experts emphasized.
As a reminder, Uber Technologies recently became a victim of a hacker attack. The attackers compromised the platform’s internal computer systems, emails, cloud storage, and Slack server, thus gaining almost complete access to Uber Technologies' confidential data. As security researchers have found out, the fraudsters sent a text message to an Uber employee posing as an IT specialist. The hackers managed to convince the employee to send the password, which allowed them to gain access to all the company’s systems. This is not the first time that platform employees have helped attackers, even though they did not want to. Thus, hackers were able to steal $ 625 million from one of the largest games in the Play2Earn genre, Axie Infinity, thanks to spyware downloaded by one of the developers.
