Blockchain technologies can be used to sell tickets to the Paris Olympics
The French Olympic Committee is exploring the possibility of using blockchain to sell tickets for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games. This idea was proposed by government official Michel Cadeau.
According to Cadeau’s proposal, fans will be able to pay for tickets with cryptocurrency using a special QR code. It is important that the purchased tickets cannot be transferred to another person, so speculators will not be able to buy more than the allowed amount and sell them at a higher price than on the official website. Users will receive their tickets in electronic format before the start of the Olympics. At the entrance to the stadium, each ticket holder will be registered, and their ticket will not be reused.
«The use of the blockchain system will provide additional security for fans. They will receive useful information, such as security rules during the Olympic Games or how to get to the venue from any part of Paris. Blockchain can be successfully used to sell tickets to other major sporting events in France,» Michel Cadeau believes.
The blockchain ticketing system was proposed after the recent riots during the Champions League final match in Paris. The match was delayed for more than 30 minutes because thousands of fans came without tickets or tried to present fakes.
Michel Cadeau hopes that the French government will be able to implement his idea, as Brazil has already done. Recently, the Sao Paulo football club announced the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency as its means of payment. From now on, sports fans can get to the club’s matches by paying for a ticket with cryptocurrency.
