ChatGPT is now available on Android
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT mobile application on Google Play, giving Android smartphone users access to a multifunctional AI bot.
The app is now available in more than 160 countries, including the UK, Canada, EU countries, and Ukraine. It requires Android 6.0 or higher.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that OpenAI has provided such an opportunity to users. In May, it released the official ChatGPT app for iOS devices.
The feature of the ChatGPT Android app is its full synchronization with the web version. Users can access saved chats from any mobile device.
It is worth noting that subscribers of ChatGPT Plus premium subscription, which costs $ 20 per month, receive a number of additional privileges, including exclusive access to the latest GPT-4 artificial intelligence model, early access to new features, and faster chatbot response times. ChatGPT Plus users can also switch between GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 language models. The built-in speech recognition system allows users to send voice requests to the chatbot.
It is interesting that the launch of the official ChatGPT app for Android came at a time when interest in AI-based chatbots has begun to decline. According to analytical companies Similarweb and Sensor Tower, traffic on the web platform and the number of ChatGPT installations decreased significantly in June.
We would like to add that GPT-4 AI has also become the technological basis for Microsoft’s Bing chatbot. Users of Android devices have had access to Microsoft’s mobile application for several months. At the same time, a similar Google Bard service is currently available to users only via a web interface.
Earlier, we told you about scientists who developed a computer system that will help create 100 times more powerful artificial intelligence than the ones currently in demand. Scientists believe that the new technology opens the way to the creation of large-scale optoelectronic processors to accelerate machine learning tasks. This approach will make it possible to include «AI brains» even in smartphones.
