CoinGecko names the main crypto trends of 2024

CoinGecko analysts have named the most popular crypto trends in 2024. Experts have identified meme coins, artificial intelligence (AI)-based projects, and real-world tokenized assets (RWAs). According to the report, meme coins received 14.36% of traffic, and 30.67% when taking into account related categories. AI projects took second place with 12.58% of global interest, which increased to 15.67% when related topics are taken into account. The RWA category came in third with 8.64%.

Compared to 2023, meme coins increased their share by 6.04%, while the popularity of AI and RWA also increased, but less significantly. While AI was ranked first last year, in 2024, this narrative dropped to second place. At the same time, GameFi, which was ranked second in 2023, dropped to sixth as its traffic share fell from 10.49% to 3.72%.

The DePIN category also showed significant growth, with its traffic share increasing by 1.56%, rising from 13th to 8th place. This trend demonstrates new opportunities for the development of decentralized infrastructures.

Thus, in 2024, there will be a reorientation of user interest in the crypto sphere, in particular to meme coins and innovative AI-based technologies, as well as to the tokenization of real assets, which continues to gain popularity.
