Cryptocurrency Ethereum fell by 7% from the annual maximum

1:08 pm, July 24, 2025

The price of Ethereum ETH $3,713.74 Bridged Ether (StarkGate) 2.53% Market capitalization $98.78 million VOL. 24 hours $3.22 billion has fallen by more than 7% from its yearly high, and the queue for validators to leave the network has reached its highest level in the last year and a half. As of July 24, 2025, more than 644,000 ETH (about $ 2.34 billion) are waiting to be unlocked, with an average waiting time of about 11 days. Such activity was last observed in January 2024, when the number of applications for anesthesia sharply increased amid the fall of the ETH exchange rate.

The Ethereum network operates on the principle of Proof-of-Stake, where validators block coins to maintain the security of the blockchain. However, according to Everstake, the current surge in exits is not a sign of panic or collapse. Most validators are leaving the system for restaking, optimization, or changing operators, not for a complete exit from Ethereum.

Analysts emphasize that some investors may unlock assets to take profits, which theoretically creates short-term pressure on the market and potentially contributes to price correction. At the same time, the demand for staking remains: there are about 390,000 ETH ($ 1.2 billion) in the queue to enter validators, which means that the net volume of staking is 255,000 ETH.

The number of active validators has reached a new high of almost 1.1 million, and the total amount of coins staked exceeds 35.7 million ETH, which is almost 30% of the total issue. Despite a short-term drop, the price of ETH has remained above $ 3,600 and has increased by more than 50% over the past month.

An additional factor in the dynamics was the activity of large players, including the Tron Foundation, which withdrew more than $ 600 million in ETH from Aave, which caused a short-term «unhooking» of the stETH token from the face value and a decrease in liquidity. The market has also seen significant demand from US spot Ethereum ETFs, which have received more than $ 2.5 billion in inflows over the past week.

Experts emphasize that despite the withdrawal of some validators, the ETH market remains stable, and interest in staking and institutional investment remains high.
