Cryptocurrency market loses more than $ 26 billion daily

In early 2026, the cryptocurrency market experienced a massive sell-off, which saw its total capitalization drop by about $ 720 billion in less than six weeks. Between January 1 and February 6, the total value of digital assets dropped from $ 2.97 trillion to $ 2.25 trillion, which means an average daily loss of about $ 20 billion.

According to TradingView, the market has already lost $ 1 trillion since its annual peak on January 14. After rising to $ 3.25 trillion in the first two weeks of the year, capitalization turned sharply downward and reached $ 2.25 trillion. The deepest drop was recorded on the night of February 5−6, when the figure dropped to $ 2.14 trillion, after which an upward correction began.

Bitcoin made the biggest contribution to the overall decline. In 23 days, its market capitalization decreased by $ 610 billion, from $ 1.94 trillion to $ 1.33 trillion, which corresponds to an average daily loss of $ 26.5 billion. Since the beginning of the year, the price of BTC has dropped by more than 27% and as of February 6, it stood at $ 64,844. If we evaluate the dynamics from the historical high of October 2025, the market as a whole has lost about $ 2 trillion, and bitcoin has lost more than $ 1.1 trillion.

Analysts emphasize that the current capitulation fits into the cyclical nature of the crypto market, which traditionally goes through alternating phases of growth and decline. At the same time, the collapse was triggered by external factors: rising systemic risks, weakening confidence in the artificial intelligence market, overheated gold and silver markets, a prolonged decline in crypto assets, and geopolitical tensions.

Against this background, market participants are increasingly cautious about the prospects for the coming months. Further movement will depend on bitcoin’s ability to hold key support levels and on global macroeconomic signals that will determine the balance between risk and demand for digital assets.
